Week 0 - The Pre-class Task

The Images

A SketchUp house built for a grade 9 assessment. Nothing too wild but built from scratch, sadly the actual model has been lost so only these and a few other basic Photoshop renders are left. Lack of planning developed into immense alterations during its design including a second floor, but ultimately led to inclusions of tiny details which made it more of a home than a poorly drafted building.

Sitting on it's isolated island, this Frank Lloyd Wright inspired creation incorporates the existing monolith of jagged rock throughout the architecture. While Wright didn't construct this building, his design was brought to fruition in recent years as a unique hybrid of man-made and natural architecture. The stark contrast of strengths creates a view which at first feels aggressive, but eases the patron into a sense of calm as they appreciate the blend.

This photo was taken during a celebration trip to Coogee beach after final exams. I was walking along the edge of the cliffs when I found a small cave overhang with this painted hole through the top. No clue how it got there but it was marginally big enough to squeeze your head through and made for a unique photo opportunity, and also a good phone wallpaper for a couple weeks.
